Though Madison has now been incorporated into the greater Nashville metropolitan government, it is nonetheless an area of great historical significance. Bounded by Briley Parkway to the south, Madison was once the site of a Native American footpath. A portion of the Cherokee Trail of Tears also wound through the community.
